PBU Students

An Open Letter to the PBU Student:
Dear Student,
Calvary Community Church is located directly across from PBU’s Penndel dorms. We are a small church that has served in the community for nearly eighty years. We are currently looking to revitalize and relaunch ourselves and we could really use your help to do so. We’d ask you to prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to join us in ministry to our local community including Penndel, Hulmeville, Levittown, and Langhorne. Our desire is to spread the gospel of Jesus the Christ in both word and deed.
The students we are looking for will:

  • Have a heart for the local community – Penndel, Hulmeville, Levittown, and Langhorne.
  • Be committed not only to a ministry but also to the local church.
  • Be committed for the long-haul – looking to stay with us throughout their tenure at PBU.
  • Be proactive and go above and beyond the call of duty.

We know it is asking a lot, but we believe there are good reasons for each of these requirements. We believe that while we don’t have a lot – we do have some unique offerings for the interested PBU student:

  • We are local.
  • No need to drive to church or ministry – you can walk.
  • You can minister in your own backyard.
  • We can provide you with ministry opportunities that include significant responsibility and opportunity for growth – opportunities that will stretch you as a person and beef up your resume.
  • We will do our best to sow into you as an individual, to help you become the leader and servant of God you are called to be.

We don’t want to make it about the money – but we do also offer scholarships to PBU students who attend the church and work in one of the ministries or services. In the 2010-2011 school year we intend to give out one $500 scholarship, one $250 scholarship, and five $50 scholarships. Each of these should be eligible for the PBU church matching grant – doubling their value. We believe PBU students are an invaluable part of our church and wish we could do more to support them – but hope this small token will demonstrate our appreciation for you.

Please take the opportunity to look at our volunteer opportunities page. If you are interested in becoming involved with a ministry at Calvary Community please drop by one Sunday and visit or shoot an email to us at info@cccpenndel.org. We thank you for your careful and prayerful consideration of this opportunity.
In Christ,
The Church Family of Calvary Community

P.S. One additional small perk we’d like to offer to our Penndel Dorm partners in ministry is a parking sticker that will allow you to park in the CCC parking lot throughout the week – in case you haven’t received a parking spot from PBU.
