Volunteer Opportunities

Introduction:

Calvary Community Church is a tiny church located in Penndel, PA. We’ve had a rough time of it over the last number of years and our entire history has been spotted with some occasional and significant bumps in the road. In many ways we don’t have a lot – people, finances, or kablam-wowzerness. In one way, we have everything – Jesus, the gospel, our life. We are bending our knees towards and raising our hands and asking God to work through us to reach our community and our world. We’d like you to consider prayerfully if God might be calling you to join us in this endeavor.

Take a Step:

Below you’ll find all sorts of different opportunities for ministry. If you are interested, take the next step by filling out our online application. Someone will be in touch with you shortly. We’ll prayerfully work with you to see how and if you can fit into the CCC family/ministry. Don’t worry – we aren’t here to sell you a pitch – we want something that will be a blessing to us and you!

The Opportunities:

  • AWANA (Children’s Ministry):Meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:15 throughout the school year.
    • Cubbies: Our preschooler program has been growing, largely under the dedicated commitment of several of our teenagers. Unfortunately, other commitments are stretching us thin and we need another individual to come on board with a lot of vision, patience, and creativity.
    • Truth & Training: Our program for 3rd to 6th grades could use one or two more able bodies. Right now we could really use a guy who can model maturity and passionate spirituality to these young and upcoming men.
    • Counsel Time: Interested in teaching? Want to do children’s ministry? Each week we have a bible lesson during AWANA. Could you help us teach this on one or more weeks?
  • NOMADS (Youth Ministry): Meets on Mondays from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. throughout the entire year. Has around two special events each month. Serves 7th-12th grades.
    • Our leaders serve across the board. Our major focus for leaders is development of personal relationships with the teenagers. We try to keep a ratio of 1:4 teens to leaders. We consider this relational development and spiritual mentoring perhaps the most important component of our ministry.
    • Leaders may also assist with teaching (we do both exegetical and topical studies), games (they are fun an exhausting!), planning events, maintaining order (now that’s hard to do), facilitating worship/prayer/sharing.
    • We are looking for one additional male leader and one additional female leader at this time.

  • Sunday Morning Worship: Our Sunday Morning Services combine musical worship with scripture reading, prayer, and a scriptural sermon. There are lots of opportunity for ministry throughout this service.
    • We can use individuals to help with prayers, ushering, greeters, scripture readings, and perhaps the occasional sermon.
    • We are understaffed in our audio visual department and could use volunteers for both our sound room and digital projector.
    • We are always looking for individuals gifted musically – whether vocally or instrumentally (for example – guitar, piano, flute, violin, cello, organ).
    • We need individuals to assist in manning the nursery and children’s church.
  • Administrative: We are looking for individuals with a talent for organization, communications, and a friendly smile to work with us in secretarial and other administrative areas such as library maintenance.
  • Outreach: We are looking for individuals to assist us in systematic outreach to our community (Penndel, Hulmeville, Levittown, Langhorne). A few ways in which we hope to accomplish this:
    • A systematic survey of the community to find out needs and how we can minister to people. Helping people become aware of the various ministries and services we offer that may meet those needs.
    • The guy’s basketball night where we enjoy a time of competitive fellowship with the community.
    • Carnival days where we hold an open event to the community at no price.
    • Parents-Days-Off when we offer parents the opportunity to drop their children off for an extended period of time (4-7 hrs.) and take a break while we watch them and provide them with a variety of opportunities including games, lessons, crafts, videos, etc.
